Uganda House
The Uganda House in New York
On the East side of mid- Manhattan, known to the international tourists as the center of the world, lies a tower that every Ugandan in this part of the Diaspora takes pride in. It symbolizes The Pearl of Africa; "The Uganda House" The proximity of Uganda House to the United Nations Headquarters or secretariat, is a few minutes' walk across the adjacent first avenue, makes it an admirably prime location for UN-related business, or international business community at large.
The premises occupy a 3,35.5 sq.ft (313.59 sq. meters). The land was acquired in 1962-1963, a period Uganda got her independence. This was spearheaded by the then Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations, H.E Apollo Kironde (RIP).
Construction of Uganda House in New York was completed in 1979, which marked a permanent home for the Permanent mission of Uganda to the United Nations, in New York.
