Any person (with the exception of those that are visa exempt) intending to travel to Uganda must apply online and have a Travel Authorization/Visa Approval Letter before embarking on their travel to Uganda as there are no visas issued on arrival.

To apply for a Ugandan Visa, follow the following instructions;

Step-1: Log onto https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ 
             start a new application and accept the disclaimer.

Step-2: Choose the; Application type (Visa) >
             Category        (Ordinary, Diplomatic and Official, Transit, East Africa Tourist Visa) >
             Subcategory   (single-entry, multiple-entry)

 Step-3: Fill the electronic form (Personal details of applicant).

NB: Under the "Point of entry or where you want to have your visa personalized," you may choose New York or any other place listed in the drop-down menu where your visa will be personalized and issued that is convenient for you.

Step-4: Add required documents depending on the category and reason for travel (Copy of recent
             passport size photograph, Copy of passport bio-data page, Yellow Fever Vaccination
             Certificate, Recommendation letter, Police clearance, Invitation Letter etc.)

 Step-5: Submit the application.

 Step-6: Make payment for the visa applied for using either a MasterCard or Visa Card

Upon submission, the applicant will receive a notification with an application number which he/she can use to track the application. The decision taken on the application will be sent electronically through the email provided by the applicant. If approved, an approval letter will be sent as an attachment to the email provided. This letter serves as a Travel authorization. Print it out and present it together with a valid passport /travel document of not less than 6 months' validity at the port of entry.

All visas, permits and passes are approved within two (2) to three (3) working days, except in special circumstances where more documents and/or verification may be required. However, applicants are advised to apply at least ten (10) working days before their intended date of travel.
